Beginning with IMInspector 1.4 - Build 51, support has been added for creating general purpose IMInspector Plugins.
This new architecture allows IMInspector's logging ability to be extended in numerous ways, by both regular users and software developers.
Below we release our first official plugin, which scans instant messages for certain keywords.
When a keyword is found, an e-mail is sent to a specific user to inform them of the event.
This feature may be useful for customers who are concerned with certain information being communicated through the supported instant messengers.
To use the free open source Scanner Plugin, please follow these steps:
- Download the new scanner plugin here.
- Copy the Scanner.dll and Scanner.xml files to the Plugins folder.
- Customize the scanner settings inside the Scanner.xml file:
- The scanStrings specify the comma-separated list of keywords.
- The smtpRecipient specifies the e-mail address of the user to be notified.
- The smtpServer specifies the domain name of your e-mail server.
- Stop and start the IMInspector Service.
Additionally, since the C# source code is made available, software developers can further customize the scanner plugin to satisfy their own needs.
